The Browns Hire a New Head Coach

The Cleveland Browns have had their number of coaches in the 2000s, and after just one year with Freddie Kitchens, the Browns have moved on. There were rumors that the team was looking at Mike McCarthy, Matt Rhule, or Josh McDaniels, all but one has a head coaching job elsewhere. The team made a surprising move by hiring Vikings Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski on the heels of the Vikings playoff loss to the 49ers. Stefanski had his first press conference as the coach of the Cleveland Browns. In his press conference, he said all the right things praising Baker Mayfield, and discussing the offensive play calling. I go further in-depth on my dislike of the hire in my podcast (@AamanPatelSportsNews), but basically I think Stefanski tried to force the ball deep to his two outside receivers in Minnesota, and I think the bad habits may follow him now that he has OBJ and Jarvis Landry. Stefanski needs to go out and get offensive linemen and make this team a power running, play-action team lead by Nick Chubb. Stefanski couldn’t realize this against the 49ers, so hopefully, for the Browns, he learns from those mistakes, but if he doesn’t that 5-year deal could be cut short, and the Browns could be in the same position next year.
